Private Music Lessons

Private Music Lessons

There’s a magic to music that lights a spark in us all. Maybe your child makes up songs at Grandma’s old piano, strums air guitar and sings along to your favorite records, or dreams of auditioning for the symphony.

When those dreams take root, something beautiful happens: confidence blooms. Young musicians become expressive artists, supportive friends, and joyful contributors to their world. Like glitter, their joy spreads everywhere they go.

At the Harmony Garden, our passion is to help young musicians’ dreams take flight through individualized, private instruction in:

  • Piano

  • Violin, Viola, & Cello

  • Voice

  • Ukulele

  • Guitar & Bass Guitar

“Watching my daughter’s confidence in herself soar has been absolutely priceless!”

  • Skills for Life

Learning an instrument imparts so much more than musical knowledge. Musicians develop time management skills, deeper focus, perseverance through challenges, goal setting, and so much more. Plus, making music exercises young musicians’ math skills and literacy. Learning music benefits every area of life, for life!

  • Confidence that Shines

As students work towards their goals, perform for family and friends, explore new music, and express themselves creatively, they discover just how capable and amazing they truly are. That confidence will shine through their music, in their friendships, in the classroom, and follow them everywhere they go in life!

  • A Joyful Heart

Everyone has their “thing” - perhaps for you it’s cooking or gardening or restoring cars. Maybe music will become your child’s thing, and if it doesn’t, that’s okay! Either way, making music brings joy into the heart like nothing else. Developing that love of music and feeling the joy of artistic expression will make your child’s heart happier and healthier, and there’s not much better than that!

“Today after my son’s 4th piano lesson he told me he want’s to be a musician. I did not even know he knew that word! Music is a big part of his life now thanks to his teachers at The Harmony Garden!”

- Heather, Harmony Garden Parent

  • Absolutely! We love working with adults. It is never too late to begin making music!

  • For beginners, we start with 30-minute lessons. As the student develops experience and skill, the teacher may recommend increasing lesson time in order to maximize the student’s growth. All lessons meet once a week.

  • The length of your child's practice sessions will depend on age and playing level. Your teacher will help determine what the best practice session length is.

More important than length of practice session is the frequency of practice. Students are expected to practice their assignments at least 5 days a week. Performing an action just once or twice makes it familiar. But repeating it frequently makes it second nature - and this is the goal of practicing!

  • A Harmony Garden education involves much more than weekly lessons. Your young musician will flourish with the exclusive events, programming, and performances specially crafted for them - all at no additional cost to you. To make budgeting easy for busy families like yours, your monthly fee is an even installment towards your all-inclusive membership for the school year, with flexible options available in the summer. Per-lesson pricing is not available.

  • If you need to miss a private lesson, notify us as soon as possible. If your child is sick but able to take a lesson, we will gladly provide an engaging online lesson via Zoom or Google Meet at your regular lesson time.

If your child is unable to attend an online or in-studio lesson, your teacher will spend your lesson time creating a Missed Lesson Assignment which will be sent home to you in your Practice Space app. Your young musician's new practice assignments and resources from their teacher will keep their learning momentum and progress moving forward.

Credits and refunds cannot be made for missed lessons, as your monthly membership fee reserves your weekly time and many other membership benefits.

If your teacher is unable to attend your lesson, the lesson will be rescheduled or subbed by another teacher.

  • Continuing lessons through the summer is the best way to maintain progress and continue to grow. Students who continue through the summer may lock in their monthly school-year membership rate, or opt for a smaller lesson package at a higher per-lesson rate. Summer pricing packages are announced every spring.

  • Part of learning music is reading music. Your teacher will recommend the best books and/or sheet music for your student. We stock all such print items for your convenience, so you don’t have to worry about going to the store or ordering anything online. And if you need any accessories for your instrument, we can help find the perfect, quality items.

  • Practicing outside of the lesson is critical to the student’s growth and success. If you do not have an instrument, we will be happy to help you find a high-quality instrument to purchase or rent prior to the start of your lessons.
