Miguel

(he/him)

Miguel teaches all levels of guitar and ukulele, and beginning piano1

Miguel has been part of the Harmony Garden family since the beginning, first as dad of two of our piano students and, before long, a pillar of our teaching team.

A highly-accomplished and well-rounded musician, Miguel is truly devoted to each student’s growth. He brings a light-hearted, positive vibe to his teaching that makes hard work seem just fun.

Miguel has been studying, teaching, performing, and recording music in the Hudson Valley and New York City for over 25 years. Now a multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter, he began as a guitar student of Martin Celay, a solo jazz guitarist and platinum record-winning engineer. In 2003, Miguel was chosen for an ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers) singer-songwriter showcase. He has taught guitar, piano, bass, ukulele, voice, harmonica, composition, and music theory to students of all ages and musical levels.

In addition to teaching, Miguel currently performs regularly in the Hudson Valley and throughout the Tri-State area. In 2020, he released an EP entitled FM Blanket: Heartbeeps (listen here on Spotify) to great acclaim.

Miguel brings a personalized approach to each student, developing methods that build a strong harmonic and rhythmic foundation for beginners, and enable experienced players to expand their knowledge and explore new and different styles of playing.
